| Reality Television: a passing trend? |
|
The debate ensues, and although the majority would agree that due to the mere accessibility of both situation and budget, reality shows are not necessarily defined within the "arts". That being said, is this a transient existence? Artistically, is there any required technique of performance specifically geared toward this vehicle in the film and television markets? And if one were to debate notoriety and/or possibly behavioral traits... then one would have to figure out where the distinction lies in differing from artistic merit in which a true actor is able to perform within a behavioral state. The answer lies within specific training in the adoption of script (inclusive of continuity) and moreover within specific film and television environments which require sequencing and performance within a limited and controlled technical environment. Everyone thinks that they're a good actor, but very few are able to perform without looking like they're acting. Remember on American Idol when Simon used to criticize a weaker performance by referring to it as "karaoke"? Glenn Bang |
